An Australian standard, the stockwhip gets its name from the handle, named a “stock”. This whip is made with a 12 plait thong, and a small english eye at the end. The handle is made from 10mm diameter fibreglass rods, and usually are made full plait to prevent chipping of the fibreglass. The grip is 16plait, and the keeper has a grapevine decoration. The whip itself is waxed, but the handle is not.
Whip Length – This is the length of the whip (not including handle). Most beginners start with a whip between 4 – 6 ft. Longer/Custom lengths are available on request.
Colours – A range of colours are available, and the first two colours of a whip come with the purchase of the whip. Please click here to add more colours, which will incur a surcharge of $20 per colour. Furthermore, please contact me for a colour not on this list.
Handle Length – This is the length of the handle. 18in is the standard length.
English Eye – All whips are now made with the English eye for easy replacement of the fall, as well as a more seamless transition from thong to fall. A loop is braided into the tip of the whip, and is therefore plaited backwards. A fall hitch can still be done on request, and the price will be the same.
Fancy Handle Plaiting – The handles normally have the same plait pattern as the thong of the whip, but this option allows for different interesting and fun patterns to be braided into the top half of the handle. Images show some of the patterns possible, but many more can be done! Please leave a note for what pattern you’re interested in getting, else it will be one of my choosing/design.
Unless requested, patterns will be a design of my choosing. Once payment is obtained, you will be placed on a waiting list, for which the lead time is around 2 – 6 weeks. Other options available as well, please contact me for any customisations!
